Marcus Aurelius Roman Emperor Stoic Philosopher Roman Art circa 168 AD, Coffee & Tea Mug
Our unique Marcus Aurelius Mug honors the legacy of this Stoic philosopher and Roman Emperor. Inspired by his timeless wisdom and renowned work Meditations.
The portrait featured on this Mug is based on Marcus Aurelius' contemporaneous coinage, denarii and aurei, when he bore the titles TR P XXIII IMP V AVG COS III. It was 168 AD, and he was about 48 years old.
On the other side of this Mug we depicted a comet that appeared in the night sky shortly after Julius Caesar's assisination in 44 BC. The comet was interpreted by some as a celestial sign indicating the deification of Caesar.
